Stream 3 – Shell Green – HV Ring Main and Generator Upgrade


The purpose of the project is to provide additional & replacement dewatering and additional incineration capacity for digested sludge at the Mersey Valley sludge processing centre (Shell Green). The works is also to include liquor treatment and support services for the plants extension.

As part of this scheme the HV ring main needed extending to two additional areas for the increased site load both demand from the process and the extra on-site power generation from the uprated site steam turbine.

The site HV ring provided transformer redundancy and also feedback through to a DCS control system to aid optimisation.


Management of design and implementation of HV power ring main upgrade on the Shell Green site, with the update of switching rules fro the site. The liaison with the turbine supplier, United Utilise and suppliers to impellent the integration of additional power on-site but also the integrity of the HV power ring.
