High quality recruitment is at the heart of everything that we do. One of the key elements of our strategy for creating a sustainable business is to encourage and support the professional development of our people. This ranges from mentoring and coaching, sponsoring our staff through professional training and accreditation courses and encouraging interdisciplinary and cross-disiplinary skill development.
OSL encourages its employees to develop their skills and has a number of staff who are currently studying a range of qualifications. A work based training matrix is also available to help them reach their goals.
OSL also has a dedicated HR manager on hand to deal with any staff issues including areas such as health and safety, training and equal opportunities.
We encourage hard work by offering performance related rewards. Staff are rewarded for reaching their targets with specific improvements to their working conditions. This can be in the form of increase in pay, reduction in working hours, or an increase in holiday allowances.
In support of the Crewe Engineering and Design UTC, OSL will provide the opportunity for students to work alongside experts in the industry and gain first hand experience. In addition to mentoring and training, OSL can also accommodate UTC students in their new independent training facility, the Railway Exchange Training Academy (RĒTA).
OSL’s support is motivated by the need to create an academic center that will encourage young people to reach their full potential, demonstrate positive attitudes to work and life and foster intellectual curiosity for application in further study or the rapidly changing world of work.
